Track all the new features, improvements, and bug fixes we've rolled out for Arcade Nexus.
Real-time Notifications, Live Timers & Database Integrations
Introduced a comprehensive real-time notification system, live countdown timers for labs, and migrated all forms to direct Firebase database storage for better security and tracking.
What changed:
- Implemented a new Real-time Notification System with a premium red badge counter in the Navbar.
- Created a dedicated Notifications page (/notifications) with smart icons, read/unread status, and smooth animations.
- Updated Admin Dashboard: Added a 'Send Notification' feature to blast messages to all users.
- Updated Admin Dashboard: Added a 'Clear All Feedback' button to easily manage platform feedback.
- Migrated 'Report a Bug' and 'Raise a Query' forms from WhatsApp redirects to direct Firebase Database saving.
- Added a live, real-time countdown timer (Days, Hours, Mins, Secs) for the Active Arcade Labs on the Homepage.
- Added days-left badges on individual lab cards on the Homepage to create urgency.
- Added 'More Prizes to be revealed soon...' text on the Dashboard under the current tier image.
GSoC Hub & AI Proposal Architect Integration
Introduced a comprehensive Google Summer of Code (GSoC) hub featuring an AI-powered proposal builder, program timeline, eligibility guides, and a premium UI overhaul.
What changed:
- Created a dedicated GSoC Hub page (/gsoc) with premium SaaS styling and official logo.
- Integrated an AI Proposal Architect that generates structured, professional GSoC proposals using Gemini AI.
- Added a comprehensive guide including Eligibility Criteria, Program Roles, and Full Timeline.
- Designed a 'Roadmap to Success' sidebar to guide contributors step-by-step.
- Added 'GSOC 2026' link to the Resources dropdown in the Navbar.
- Optimized the AI Chat backend to prevent markdown clutter and ensure full-length, non-truncated proposal generation.
Premium Admin Dashboard & Newsletter Integration
Completely redesigned the Admin Dashboard with a Vercel-style premium Light Mode, removing all harsh blacks. Integrated a fully functional Newsletter subscription system powered by Resend and Firebase.
What changed:
- Removed dark mode from Admin Dashboard, replacing it with a sleek, minimalist Light Mode (slate-50 to white).
- Redesigned all Admin KPI cards, tables, and modals with soft floating shadows and precise borders.
- Added a new Newsletter signup form to the Footer that connects directly to the 'subscribers' collection in Firestore.
- Implemented a 5-second animated 'Premium Thank You' success message upon successful newsletter subscription.
- Updated Firebase Security Rules to allow public write access to the 'subscribers' collection securely.
- Integrated Resend API backend route to automatically send welcome emails to new subscribers.
Global Dark Mode & Premium UI Overhaul
Implemented a system-wide Dark Mode and completely overhauled the UI for a highly professional, premium SaaS appearance across the entire platform.
What changed:
- Integrated a global ThemeProvider for seamless Light, Dark, and System mode switching.
- Added a premium 3-way theme toggle dropdown (Sun/Moon/Monitor) right in the Navbar.
- Replaced the Navbar brand with the new custom 'nexus' SVG logo and moved the Avatar to the far right.
- Changed the Navbar loading indicator to a sleek, thin grey line for a subtle premium feel.
- Redesigned the Homepage hero and cards with a premium aesthetic (reduced border curves, refined shadows).
- Updated Homepage CTA buttons: 'Start Labs' is now Royal Blue, 'Subscribe' is a Purple-Pink gradient, and both are slimmer.
- Added the new 'nexus' logo next to the text in the Footer.
- Added the 'nexus' logo to the Admin Login screen and made the login card sharper (less curved).
Premium Sky Blue Hero & Universal Right Sidebar
Refreshed the Home page hero section with a stunning Sky Blue gradient and introduced a universal right sidebar for quick access to all platform pages.
What changed:
- Removed the old hero background image and implemented a clean, vibrant Sky Blue gradient.
- Added a floating toggle button and a new sliding Right Sidebar in the Home page.
- Sidebar now includes quick links to all platform pages (Calculator, Dashboard, Leaderboard, Resources, Support, Admin, etc.).
- Updated the sidebar header color from black to a premium Purple theme.
- Removed the experimental High Contrast (Yellow) mode to maintain a stable and clean UI.
- Optimized sidebar behavior for mobile devices with a smooth overlay and slide animation.
Global Search Page & Navbar Integration
Added a powerful global search page to instantly find any page, tool, or resource across the platform. Also integrated a quick search icon directly into the Navbar for easy access.
What changed:
- Created a dedicated Search Page with a clean, premium UI and instant results.
- Implemented local search history (saves last 5 searches) with a clear option.
- Added quick links to popular pages on the empty search state.
- Integrated a perfectly proportioned Search icon right next to the 'Arcade Nexus' brand in the Navbar.
- Added smooth hover and active states for the new Search icon to match the platform's design language.
Facilitator Report Page & Navbar Enhancements
Introduced a brand new dedicated Facilitator Report page to track user progress, milestones, and history. Upgraded the Navbar with a new Facilitator dropdown and a premium page loading indicator.
What changed:
- Created a clean, compact, and professional 'Facilitator Report' page (removed bulky UI, added sleek tables).
- Added a new 'Facilitator' dropdown in the Navbar to easily access both Program and Report pages.
- Updated Navbar dropdown cards to use crisp 'rounded-md' corners for a more professional look.
- Added a thin (2px), premium gradient (Blue-Indigo-Purple) loading line at the top of the Navbar that animates on page transitions.
- Fixed spacing and layout issues in the Facilitator Report for a much better data-focused view.
AI Chatbot Markdown & Link Formatting
Upgraded the Arcade Nexus AI assistant to support rich markdown text and cleanly format long URLs into clickable buttons.
What changed:
- Integrated react-markdown and remark-gfm for the AI Chatbot.
- Fixed issue where AI responses were rendering as a single messy text block.
- Long URLs in AI chat are now truncated and rendered as clean buttons that open securely in new tabs.
- Improved UI styling and spacing inside the chat bubbles for better readability.
New Pages, Navbar Icons & Admin Upgrade
Added the Report Bug and Changelog pages. Redesigned the Admin Dashboard and updated the Navbar with cute SVG icons and a cleaner brand look.
What changed:
- Added 'Report Bug' page with custom red Bug SVG and WhatsApp integration.
- Added this 'Update History' page to track platform changes.
- Completely redesigned Admin Dashboard (new Sign-in, KPI cards, Tier badges, Health indicators, CSV export, Ctrl+K search).
- Updated Navbar: Removed the box around brand star, added cute Book (Resources) and Bug (Support) SVG icons in dropdowns.
- Fixed Calculator loading state: Removed spinning border, moved timer to input box, added clean 'Calculating...' button with bigger spinner.
- Removed the gradient Hype Banner from Dashboard for a cleaner look.
- Fixed build errors related to Lucide brand icons (LinkedIn).
Professional Slate + Blue Theme Migration
Migrated all core pages from the old playful theme to a clean, professional business/SaaS design system to make the platform feel more premium.
What changed:
- Redesigned Home Page with clean Hero, Trust bar, Feature cards, and sleek CTA.
- Redesigned Leaderboard with a cleaner table, better sorting, and refined comment UI.
- Redesigned About page: Removed bulkiness, added Principles strip and Stats bar.
- Redesigned Facilitator page with clean tables and better team avatars.
- Redesigned main Dashboard: Clean profile card, updated stats layout, and sleek Prize Tiers.
- Redesigned Calculator page for better error states and a clean professional input field.
Bug Fixes & Minor Tweaks
Fixed some reported issues regarding URL validation in the calculator.
What changed:
- Fixed issue where extra characters in profile URL were not highlighted correctly.
- Resolved caching issue where old points were shown.
- Fixed broken avatars on leaderboard.
